I’ve been playing some XGIII: Extreme G Racing via Dolphin and it’s amazing how great GameCube games can look with a bit of upscaling, anti-aliasing, texture filtering and some advanced shader compilation. I loved this game on GameCube and it’s been fun to revisit. It also takes care of the letter X in my list, which means I’m now down to one letter: Y.
I knew you were gonna win. I’ve been slacking so bad.
Theres a winner? Lol
In my mind cause I’m mildly competitive.
Everyone wins because they had fun playing some games they might not have otherwise

I’m currently playing through Neon White, I still have my rule of playing each game to completion, or at least two hours if it’s multiplayer only. I suppose Monster hunter isn’t really a multiplayer only game, so i have a different M game in the works too
I may try the challenge, but I’ll probably wait until next year because my poor memory keeps thinking that my 2023 Christmas games are included with the 2024 list- sounds fun though!
Well folks, with a replay if one of my favourite games, Year Walk, I am bringing my 2024 Alphabet Challenge to a close. It was a lot of fun, and sometimes a serious challenge, to find games for each letter. Wishing everyone luck with their lists as we enter the final months of the year
Ahhhhh shucks. You won. No surprise.
Does Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket count? Cause i need a P.
You do you boo-boo. I think it works.
thanks for the template- will do to use in my 2025 list
R is for Rayman 2
For my final letter, I revisited this N64 classic for the first time since it came out! I remembered really enjoying it way back when, and honestly it’s still impressive.
Unlike Mario 64 and the other playground platformers of its era, Rayman 2 is highly linear and heavily deemphasizes its core moveset. Instead, almost like a sort of proto Mario Galaxy, the focus lies squarely on a cavalcade of super polished setpieces, aided by a cleverly scripted camera. Rayman’s doing something different pretty much every level, be it battling pirates, riding rockets, evading giant chicken mechs, or even braving a rudimentary version of Galaxy’s spheroid gravity, and almost all of these gimmicks are good fun. The finale’s labyrinth of high-speed, full 3d flight is still incredibly tense, and the lovely art nouveau style lends the whole game an unmatched sense of whimsy.
Definitely up there with Sands of Time and Mario + Rabbids as one of my very favorite Ubisoft games.
I wish I knew about this sooner. I am going to have to try this for 2025.
Kinda forgot about this tbh, but I did play some stuff that filled letters. I did play Jump Force and ZombiU, but none of them really capture my attention for long. I also played Yoku’s Island Express, but I’m not really in the mood to finish a metroidvania.

Unfortunately, I really can’t find anything that interests me for the final letters, so I think this is where I jump off. It was nice exercise
I haven’t forgotten this challenge! And I’m about 6 months through. I started 21st June.
I worry I play too many RPGs and it will jeopardise my completion daate!

Whoops, didn’t play any H, O, U, or X games… Time to look for short games I have on hand that start with those letters.
Here is a tentative list I created for 2025, heavily favouring 2025 releases I know I’ll play and games that have been sitting on my backlog forever.
I say “tentative” because it’s a statistical impossibility that I actually like all of these games enough to finish, so there will be more substitutions than a high school basketball game. Titles for Q, U and Z required me to go out of my way to finds games that weren’t on my active backlog shelves, so that’s a thing.

So I’d say I’m more or less done with it, and if anyone wants to see my template, you can do so here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12Rbs1heyGUsZ6ArHIP95KQh_VWiRpIBlsmqSYQCSjb0/edit?usp=sharing
I’m probably not going to update it or do any gaming for a while though as I’m trying a 3 month dopamine detox but hopefully it makes the experience better when I do return.
